Invictus Strategic Solutions is a UK-based team of instructors and consultants with specialist military, law enforcement, and pre-hospital care, experience. We combine practical training, security consultancy, and risk-led advice so people know what to do when it matters.
We deliver on site across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Birmingham, and the West Midlands, with UK-wide programmes built around nationally recognised qualifications and tailored consultancy to help organisations stay compliant and safe.
Our Story
Invictus Strategic Solutions was established in May 2022 to replace “tick-box” training with realistic, scenario-led learning. Our instructors bring frontline experience to the classroom so teams leave ready to act under pressure, not just pass an assessment.

Alex Barr is the Founder and Director of Invictus Strategic Solutions, a UK-based Security Risk Management and Training Consultancy specialising in Learning & Development for high-risk and complex environments.
With 25 years of distinguished service in the British Armed Forces, Alex has extensive operational experience across some of the world’s most challenging regions, including the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, and Somalia. He began his career as a Commando Engineer, mastering explosive entry, demolitions, water supply, and bridge and infrastructure reconnaissance. Later, he progressed into specialist military and intelligence roles, working alongside UK and international agencies on sensitive operations requiring precision, discretion, and strategic planning. His operational footprint also includes training and exercises in Norway, Belize, Kenya, and the United States.
Alex brings this high-level operational expertise into the training and consultancy sector, delivering programmes in Security Risk Management, Travel Risk Awareness, First Aid, Pre-Hospital Emergency Care and Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT). His courses are grounded in real-world scenarios, ensuring practical, relevant, and immediately applicable learning.
Alongside his consultancy work, Alex serves as a frontline Emergency Medical Technician across the UK and continues as an Army Reserve Combat Medical Technician, maintaining operational readiness and hands-on experience in trauma care, multi-casualty incidents, and crisis management.
Driven by integrity, commitment, and humility, Alex founded Invictus Strategic Solutions to translate lived experience into impactful learning. His goal is simple: improve decision-making, resilience, and safety so individuals and teams can operate with confidence in any environment.

Darren Mabbott is a highly experienced emergency medical training specialist with over 23 years in law enforcement, crisis response, and medical instruction. He delivers advanced training in first aid, trauma first aid, pre-hospital care, and scenario-based simulations designed for professionals operating in high-risk, complex, and austere environments.
Darren has extensive operational experience with specialist UK law enforcement groups, alongside extensive security and risk management expertise. He is a qualified Security Risk Management Consultant and a Training Delivery Specialist, ensuring that every programme is practical, outcomes-focused, and grounded in real-world operational experience.
To maintain clinical credibility, Darren actively works on the frontline with NHS ambulance services, supporting urgent care, patient transport, secure medical escort, and medical provision at public and private events. This ongoing operational involvement ensures his training remains realistic, relevant, and directly applicable to real-world emergencies.
